  • The Legend - 2003 Lexus ES 300

I looked at Mercedez, Audi, Acura and a whole bunch of other cars. I decided to settle for a Lexus ES300 because all the features that I was getting as an option in some of the other vehicles were all standard in the ES300. It is a great drive. I already put in 1400 miles in the first 3 weeks. The dealer was great and definately deserves commendation.

  • ES300 could be a lot more comfortable - 2003 Lexus ES 300

enjoy most everything about this car except the build of the front seats. Theyre just not comfortable. even with the lumbar support, which is a good one, I had a terricic back ache after the first two hours driving the ES300. Otherwise, its a geat automobile.

  • A top quality car - 2003 Lexus ES 300

Bought the car new in 2003. Got a very good deal. Have put 150K miles on it. The last trip averaged 27-30 mpg. No major problems. The trans does still act funny every once in a while like most ES-300s. I noticed a lot of people had problems with the rear door window. Ive replaced the switch twice. It still rides like new and looks it. The value is around $10K. I wouldnt sell it for $15K

  • Meets Expectations - generally... - 2003 Lexus ES 300

The ES300 has been a very high quality and reliable automobile requiring very few repairs above and beyond the required scheduled maintenance. This vehicle gets decent gas mileage and generally averages about 21-23 mpg, and also has a very quiet and comfortable ride. However, I would be remiss if I didnt mention that this specific model has a slight hesitation in acceleration that the dealership was unable to correct. The automobile also has a fairly fragile paint job that scratches easily and is susceptible to rock chips. Reading the center console displays of radio/CD and heating/AC settings can be difficult when wearing polarized sunglasses.

  • Great , but not like the previousES300s - 2003 Lexus ES 300

1000 miles. Has an erratic transmission shift pattern. Was present in the 2002 models as well, and was suppose to be fixed by a software change, but it isnt. It is actually dangerous. If you release your gas pedal, and press it back to where it was you get a huge thump. You also find it very hesitantif going from say 27 to 40 mph. The delay is very noticeable, dont get into an intersection, and need immediate move. First Lexus says, the fix is delayed (shelved), and now theysay end of 2003. I dont think Lexus knows how to fix this 5 speed problem. It affects power because normal gas pedal pressing doesnt allow the transmission to shift quick enough.

  • Word of mouth! - 2003 Lexus ES 300
    By -

I knew it wasnt going to drive like a sports car (IS300).A sound quality system was expected(I30).After I drove my first Lexus in 1996 I thought I would never drive another luxury brand again. Now I am not so sure..In a few years when start shopping around I dont know.I just think Lexus should be trying to improve their proven winners,Instead of trying to bring new vehicles to market.Concentrate on their loyal following and we will convert the others if you treat us write. The best advertisment is word of mouth.

  • The ES needs work - 2003 Lexus ES 300

The 02-03 ES300s have a serious problem with the throttle/tranny computer. Ive read reviews saying the ES330 does not correct that problem. Lexus has acknowledged that customers have reported problems with the drive- by-wire system, Im one of those with major problems. Im not sure how they could make a car that does not go when you give it gas, but there are different driving situations where that happens. Most notable is when pulling into traffic out of a parking lot. If not starting from a dead stop, the computer causes a serious lag and does not kick the engine in for a second or two. Ill never buy a Lexus again if Lexus does not fix this

  • Surprised at cost of service - 2003 Lexus ES 300

For the most part i am satisfied with the Es 300. I had a couple of rattles in the back door , but after two times the dealer took care of that problem. I was very surprised at the cost of service. 10,000 mile service cost $129.00, and i just called the dealership to find out the cost of 15,000 service-----HOW ABOUT-$359.00, so much for a LEXUS

  • Lazy Perfect - 2003 Lexus ES 300

This car performs well, handles nicely, and brakes adequately. However, its more comfortable than any car I have ever been in. I own a few other specialty vehicles, but this is my daily driver, and it is exactly perfect at getting me to work and home. I find myself not being stressed out in traffic.

our 2003 Lexus ES 300 is one of the worst riding cars we have ever owned. Its suspension system doesnt even small bumps making it very uncomfortable to drive/ride on all roads other than highways.
